Christmas In INDIA...2012(part 1)!!!

Christmas eve candle light service.

Last year December, i was singing the song "Christmas in Lagos". This year, there is no song at all.

On Christmas eve i was so depressed because i wasn't feeling the spirit of Christmas like i normally do, No Christmas carols, No banger (knockouts/fire crackers) like we have in Naija , No sales of chickens on the roads , No traffic sef. and am wondering, where did Christmas go?

And then it Hit me! I'm in India, a country with different religions. Oh well, i decided to make myself happy by listening to carols on YouTube, lol.

Christmas carol service @ #pearlcity church was amazing, apparently its the best carol service i ever attended, with the songs and the candle lights, gradually, the nostalgia subsided.

Christmas day came, hung out with friends during the day, at least i ate "Rice, chicken and coleslaw", our very own Christmas food. hehehe. We also spread the joy of Christmas to some kids around the area, gave them drinks and candy, took pictures with them, and they were so happy, seeing their smiling faces alone made it a happy day for me.

Hung out with some more friends in the evening, it was such a pleasant day and at the end of it all, i realized that it wasn't a bad Christmas at all.

It doesn't matter if i'm in Lagos or India, its about the  people around me, friends becoming family, sharing with one another , spreading the love , hugging a child , That's the reason for the season, and so is Christ!!!

Merry Christmas Everyone and have a prosperous New year!

India and Rape :Disturbing State of Mind!

A 23 yrs old girl was gang raped and tortured by 5 men in New Delhi this week and i'm thinking, should a country like India who claims to have so much respect for women have such barbaric things happen in the country's capital?

She was on her way home with a companion  at 9.15 pm(I mean, 9.15 isn't that late if we look at it logically) on that faithful Sunday night, and they decided to take a bus, little she know getting on that bus would changed her life forever.

After the guy had been beaten, the barbaric act went on for 45 mins in the moving bus, with the curtains drawn,no one to help the poor girl.
Raped, Beaten, Tortured, Stripped Naked, Thrown out of the bus, Left on the cold streets of Delhi ,her intestine was barely in her stomach and no one could cover the poor girl up.

Seriously, this is really disturbing. I don't know this girl from Adam, but she is someone's daughter, someone's sister. it could happen to anyone, she just entered the wrong bus at the wrong time.

For someone like me who feels very insecure on the streets of India, this incident has increased my paranoia and i know people would say"you are a child of God, Nothing shall befall you", BUT,Abeg, they say "Man know Thyself".

Oh well! Sometimes Bad things happen to good people. No matter what the police does to the rapists or how much the government compensates her and her family, it would not bring back her lost innocence and she can never erase those 45 mins of her life .

Say No to #Rape...

Spreading The Love This Christmas...

Christmas is not all about having fun  and enjoying ourselves, its about GIVING!

There are so many less privileged kids out there and the amount of Orphanage homes you find around in India is very surprising. There are also homes for old people too and these people need love and a sense of belonging.

This Christmas Pearl city Church decided to "Spread the Love" by hosting a Christmas party to an Orphanage with over 150 children and we had a mini Xmas party. The kids were so excited to have people from around the world talk to them, hug them, entertain them e.t.c
The Magicians wow'd the kids and adults, the kids sang and danced , Some settled down and watched a Christmas movie projected on the wall ,while others got their face painted...All the kids got little party packs at the end of the day.

It was indeed a great experience for me and i loved it !!!

If you haven't spread the love of Christmas yet, do so today, and Hug a child...

If you missed it, well, all i can say is #sorry#.

I just cannot sleep tonight (well its 4am now) without writing about "The Last Christmas".

Association of Nigerians-AP Elects Executives for 2013...

The Association of Nigerians in Andhra Pradesh (Hyderabad) conducted its election for the  Executive offices for the year 2013, yesterday Sunday 9th Dec 2012.
Oh gosh! Since i came to India, i have never seen so many Nigerians in the same place at the same time(majority of those i haven't even seen before).

The Electoral committee did a great job in organizing the election and controlling the crowd, as well as making sure there was a free and fair election(although, knowing Nigerians, some people still made lots of noise)Lol..

Anyways, There were 3 candidates running for the post of the President, and all the other candidates for the posts of "General Secretary, Joint Secretary, Provost , P.R.O and Sports Co-ordination" ran unopposed(Automatic win).
The winner(President) beat his opponents by 45 votes, the second had 16 votes(now Vice-President),the third person had 8 votes and there were 7 invalid votes.

In case y'all didn't know i got elected as the Joint secretary #ClapClapClap hehehe#. It was really nice and  humorous at the same time (Although i was in such a hurry to leave for my play) but it was worth attending.

Thanks...
