Anger Management 101

Have you all noticed that many Nigerians, rich or poor get angry too often?
When discussing issues, we drift from the topic and start insulting each other...

I live in a society where i get angry at at-least one thing EVERYDAY(i still got angry today), and Nigerians are seen to be angry, aggressive, loud and malicious people. In fact a colleague at work where i intern once said these words to me "Hilda, you are a very angry girl," and i thought for a minute, am i?

Yes we all know the society in which we Nigerians come from, we complain "Our government officials and politicians steal from us everyday, nothing seems to be going right in the education, aviation and power sector, it makes us MAD," bla bla bla... Honestly it's all become a cliche! it doesn't matter anymore.

If we lack respect for one another, how can we have the courage to work together?

This ANGER issue, raising ones voice, speaking defensively and name calling is really getting old. It's time we drop this behavior because no matter how old you are, I think it's childish to get angry too often even at things one can just smile and walk away from.
It's sad that many Nigerians have adopted anger and confrontation as survival mechanisms, neglecting how deadly anger can be.
ANGER destroys LOGIC.
Chances are that those who get angry too often hate themselves sometimes, and project hatred towards others (this hatred comes from lacking the will power to control anger), experience head aches, high blood pressure, anxiety, have contributed to a riot or one day will contribute to a riot.
Bottomline, anger is not a survival mechanism. Just because people around you are angry doesn't mean you have to.

It doesn't cost a thing to smile! I rest my case.
