India and Rape :Disturbing State of Mind!

A 23 yrs old girl was gang raped and tortured by 5 men in New Delhi this week and i'm thinking, should a country like India who claims to have so much respect for women have such barbaric things happen in the country's capital?

She was on her way home with a companion  at 9.15 pm(I mean, 9.15 isn't that late if we look at it logically) on that faithful Sunday night, and they decided to take a bus, little she know getting on that bus would changed her life forever.

After the guy had been beaten, the barbaric act went on for 45 mins in the moving bus, with the curtains drawn,no one to help the poor girl.
Raped, Beaten, Tortured, Stripped Naked, Thrown out of the bus, Left on the cold streets of Delhi ,her intestine was barely in her stomach and no one could cover the poor girl up.

Seriously, this is really disturbing. I don't know this girl from Adam, but she is someone's daughter, someone's sister. it could happen to anyone, she just entered the wrong bus at the wrong time.

For someone like me who feels very insecure on the streets of India, this incident has increased my paranoia and i know people would say"you are a child of God, Nothing shall befall you", BUT,Abeg, they say "Man know Thyself".

Oh well! Sometimes Bad things happen to good people. No matter what the police does to the rapists or how much the government compensates her and her family, it would not bring back her lost innocence and she can never erase those 45 mins of her life .

Say No to #Rape...

  1. Its a really sad event. Her life is definitely never gonna be the same, especially in a society like India. Since I arrived India a few months ago, every other day I pick a newspaper up there is a rape incident...which is really very disturbing, especially when all thats being preached in India is lover, togetherness and family. Its said that a rape case occurs an average of every 22 minutes in India which makes me really question what the government is doing about this. The other day after a girl was raped, a fellow female politician suggested that the only solution is for parents to marry their daughters off early (in my opinion is the dumbest opinion i have ever heard). so you really begin to question these things when the people in power can make comments like this, even worse a woman at that.
the police also dalways try to shift blame to the victim(lady) so its really difficult to for women here in India, especially the capital Delhi. Even if the rapists are caught, they merely bribe the police and the next day are out of police custody.
Some women claim the fault ofthe ladies basis their dressing (till date I havent seen any Indian lady dress provocatively, so my thinking is that tight hugging jeans and a sleeveless shirt is provocative in their own perspective). Women are left to protect themselves because no one will protect them...not the govt and certainly not the men.
this recent rape only gained so much media because it happened on a busy road in a highly populated place while the girl is battling for her life currently. I have advised every girl I know to carry with her a pepper spray all the time because if this can happen 9.15pm, its only a matter of time before it happens 7pm. The government needs to take measures and face this dirty ugly act by these senseless idoits who are not real men. Also the people themselves need to fight against it, as I have noticed that the average indian doesnt care about what happens to his/her neighbour as long as he himself is not hurt or being affected...that so called love is definitely fading away.
